Phil Hanson of American Red Cross speaks to Rogers Rotary Club
American Red Cross is celebrating 100 year of service. In 1917, as the United States entered World War 1, the American Red Cross emerged as the leading social services charity. In Minnesota, 20% of all residents had joined the Red Cross! Since 1917 they have served millions of people through disaster relief, preparedness education, health and safety education, service to armed forces, and reconnection for families separated by conflict.
American Red Cross is so much more than Blood Drives! They fly home our Military service people so a soldier can see the birth of his daughter or hold the hand of a dying mother. In 2016 the Minnesota Region of the American Red Cross helped 1,011 families affected by local disasters, installed 3,720 smoke alarms in residences and reached out to 5,245 youth with emergency preparedness education through the Pillowcase Project. Check it out here and see how you can volunteer with the American Red Cross.

Malmborg’s, Poinsettias and Rotary
Maple Grove Rotary and Rogers Rotary combine a weekly meeting at Malmborg’s Garden Center for fellowship, fun and poinsettias! Malmborg’s offers fundraising opportunities for groups or organizations to pre-sell poinsettias to family, friends and neighbors; so you only pay for poinsettias you have already sold! After delivering beautiful, Malmborg’s grown poinsettias, your group keeps the profits from the sales. For fundraiser information, please contact Van Cooley at 763.242.4343 or van@geraniumsbygeorge.com
Warm Hands, Warm Hearts to Rogers Elementary Schools
Rogers Rotary Club participates in Warm Hands, Warm Hearts and donates hats and mittens to Rogers Elementary Schools. Warm Hands, Warm Hearts was founded by Paige Kassner in NE Wisconsin in 2008 at just 16 years old. Paige founded this organization after her grandfather, suffering from Lou Gehrig’s Disease told her that no matter how small she was, she can make a difference. Paige remembers his kindness, the power of courage and, of course, the importance of giving to others. With Warm Hands, Warm Hearts Paige hopes to encourage others the same way her grandfather encouraged her. To learn more about Paige and Warm Hands, Warm Hearts click here.
