Rotary International’s Eradication of Polio

As Rotarians, we are all aware of Rotary’s work to eradicate polio. What most of us do not know is the magnitude of this effort and what it has taken to be on the verge of eradicating this devastating disease. Rotary had the original vision to eradicate polio and through Rotary’s leadership, helped create the single-largest internationally coordinated public health project the world has ever seen.

I encourage all Rotarians to attend the event on April 27th at the 3M Auditorium at the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota to hear Bob Scott, Chairman of the Rotary International PolioPlus Committee speak about Rotary’s polio efforts and to hear how close we are to accomplishing the goal set 25 years ago — eradicating polio. This is a very unique opportunity to hear from the Chairman of the International PolioPlus Committee and to learn more about the single most important project Rotary has ever undertaken. Please make an effort to attend this event, as I promise you will learn something you did not know and you will leave being even prouder of being a Rotarian.
